I dropped out of the radar on the sleep hacking experiment I conducted a (long) while ago, but I'm back yet again and will hopefully stay this time.

I've had some changes since I last was 'round the cadre' and I have time now to blog a bit. Over the past few months I have been working and moved out to a new location.

I think you all will be seeing more of me here ;D

Adventures in Polyphasic Sleep: Day 2/3

Sorry, I didn't get around to posting yesterday's update, so I'll do a joint day 2/3 post.

I'm starting to feel tired. I think that for the first day and a half, my body was just thinking I was staying up late. So far though, it hasn't been horrible. I have found that eating a snack and a bit of exersize after I wake up helps with waking up.

Day two I slept through my morning alarm (I think I turn it off in my sleep as I can reach my clock from bed), so I ended up getting more sleep than I planned. I think it is safe to say I'll be moving my clock soon ;D. Even though I have been starting to see some rough spots, I am planning on sticking with this 'adventure' for at least a month.

Cheers all and I'll try to keep everyone over at the BC updated.

In a recent attempt to give myself more time to do work/projects, I have decided to experiment with polyphasic sleep (don't know what that is? try this wikipedia article). This is my first day. Hopefully, I will be able to record my progress here on BC.

When LH started to accept requests for commenting accounts, I used my LH search plugin I made to help my chances of getting an account. Well, no account and all of a sudden there are a few posts on FF search plugins. Most notably:

(Update) Mini-ITX File Hosting

Well, newegg came through and I ordered a TRENDnet TEW-443PI (supposedly the easiest wifi card to use under Linux). It works beautifully. Absolutely no hassles, all I had to do is enter my WEP key. No driver messes at all. I'll keep you guys updated until I finish my project.

Well, it finally happened, my Karma died. I could of saved it again (I have dumb friends who break my electronics), but I'm giving up. I'm going to salvage the hdd, but otherwise, there's nothing left of real value to me.

Mini-itx file hosting

I've finally found a suitable case (and cashflow) for my old mini-itx motherboard (EPIA-M 1000) I've had laying around. The specs aren't too bad - 1ghz C3 cpu, a gigabyte of RAM, 160 gigabyte hdd, and a 52x cd drive. I am still missing one crucial part for me to use this as a file server - a network card. Athough I do have built-in 10/100, I'd like to go wireless since I don't have my own router (it's in another part of the house) but, I have no clue as to what kind of card I can easily use in Linux (comments welcome ;D).

Right now, it acts as another space heater in my room and my ad-hoc cooling solution is having a hard time keeping up. Eventually, I'll have a few fans installed into my desk so I can actually close the door on the computer cabinet; until then I'll use my current 'clip a fan on the desk and point it so it blows air into the cabinet' setup.

While I was waiting for chknfts to finish, I decided to fire up the 'ol palm to do some blog browsing when I had a realization: why read blogs when I can blog from the comfort of my palm? A new era has donned for me. Now I must ask, do any of you blog on something other than a computer/laptop?

FEAR Multiplayer is Free!

I know this isn't horribly new, but the multiplayer part of FEAR is now free to use. The game can be found at JoinFEAR.com. FEAR is a game by Sierra that is a great first-person-shooter and combines eerie sounds with great physics to create a spooky enviroment. In light of this, I am starting a team called "The Meat Department" (hey, I am a pseudo butcher after-all) and if anyone here would like to join, just shoot me off an email. I would be more than happy to welcome more team members.
