Coke has the best chemical engineers

I like to throw around the phrase "Pepsi Challenge" as a way of indicating something is a worthy competitor. However, I have realized that Coke is always the sure winner in the Pepsi challenge:

Coke C2 <comic book guy>Best... Drink... Ever</cbg> It is the perfect balance between the regular "high-octane" Coke (which has too much sugar IMO), and Diet Coke which should only be used to strip paint off of junkyard body panels as a science expriment. Pepsi, quick on the heels of Coke came out with "Edge." While I do feel that Pepsi has the 'edge' (pun intended) on Coke in the diet drink category (more on this below), "Edge" simply tastes like someone poured 50% Pepsi and 50% Diet Pepsi into a bottle and relabeled it as "Edge."

Coke Zero When I first saw this, I wondered, "What's the difference between this and Diet Coke?" The latter which I despise. With the ingredients lists and nutrition information side-by-side there is not much different. Nutrition info is the same and so is the ingredient list, although some ingredients have moved up or down in their quantity order. The result? Perfection in a no-calorie drink. A slam-dunk on Diet Pepsi and Pepsi One.

Pepsi should take a cue to become the AMD of Coke's Intel. Come up with something new and better -- and be the first. Otherwise you're just riding on their coat-tails.

Neuromarketing

Check out this "Pepsi Challenge"...

Re: Neuromarketing

Wow, and I thought they just picked Pepsi because it has obviously more sugar when tasted side-by-side with Coke. Damn those Coke marketing people.

Pepsi Challenge poll

Stella's picture

You should put together a quick "Pepsi Challenge" poll on Blogcadre to see what "pop" (Yes, I am from Wisconsin. Oh, and we call the drinking fountain a "bubbler".) the Blogcadre folks prefer. I'm a sugar FREAK so I enjoy the cool, high sugar flavorings of regular coke. I've never tried Coke C2, but will give it a try since you say it's the "Best... Drink... Ever" :) I'm not a big fan of any diet pop so i can't provide any other feedback on diet pop besides, "blech!"

Good idea

I'll put up a poll for favorite colas. Vote!

You should try them. C2 is the perfect medium between too much sugar (Coke Classic) and none at all (Diet Coke). Zero is the zero-calorie drink for non-diet drinkers. It isn't meant to replace Diet Coke, but to bring in Classic Coke/C2 consumers who are looking for a better no-calorie cola.

No way

I've tried C2 and the new Zero Coke. Both taste the same to me, Way to sweet and I can just feel the sugar eating away at my teeth! And it leaves just a nasty after taste. It's so hard to drink, burns the throat and is too sugary!

Stay Clear of ZERO and C2!!

Pepsi... much nicer!

Burning!

HA HA!! It's funny that you mention the burning because that's one aspect that I enjoy about Coke. (Okay, I'm a freak!) The more the sugar, the better! YUM!

justin, thanks for putting up the poll BTW!
