This One's for You, Jason

I know, it's been a while since I've posted here, and I really should change that. But when I came accross this, I immediately thought of Mr. Striegel, the main man here at blogcadre.

LEGO OR Gate

I was browsing digg for some cool content and came accross something amazing; a combination of electronics and LEGOs. No, I don't mean LEGO Mindstorms sets, nor do I mean any sort of third party robotics for LEGOs. The site is a demonstration of logic gates, commonly used in electronics and computer science, with LEGO pieces. Not only that, but they actually work, and can be chained together to create a sort of "program." Think of old punch-card computers, but in building block form.

made my day

Now that is cool. It reminds me of the Babbage Difference Engine. There's just something about mechanical computers. Speaking of which, I just watched Steamboy the other day, which is about an alternative 18th century world in which a breakthrough in steam technology allows the creation of incredible/impossible devices.

It really makes you wonder a couple of things: what inventions are being discovered right now that push the useful limits of current science and technology, and what are the new disruptive technologies that haven't been discovered yet which will make these incredible inventions possible.

That's the one with Patrick

That's the one with Patrick Stewart. Any anime movie with Patrick Stewart is a must see.
