How secure is a credit card?

Ever wondered why we even sign for a credit card purchase? No one actually looks at the signature. Here is a very funny prank pulled by your average guy in a suit.

My card has "PLEASE ID ME" written on the back. As you might guess, I only get IDed about half the time I use it, which, in Minnesota, seems to be much better than anywhere else I've travelled.

Here's the funny thing, though. About 10 percent of the time, the cashier will take the card, appear to study it closely, compare it to my receipt signature, and hand it back to me, apparantly without realising that my card has bold print on it requesting and ID.

It's like some people get so used to going through the motions that they just zombie out and miss the obvious that's dancing right in front of their face.

In Spain cashiers do actually ask for your ID but once I gave m wife´s ID, the cashier looked at it, looked at my credit card and made the transaction. I believe they just want to simulate they are checking, in reality they must be in cloud number 9. I don't blame them, it must be a terrible job...
