Some Schools Districts crack down on inappropriate blogs
"Maintaining or being identified on a blog site which depicts illegal or inappropriate behavior will be considered a violation of this code."
Now that sounds pretty benign, but can you really control what is posted on a blog? For example, I know we all hate it when Jason post's stuff about Evangeline Lilly. But is there really anything we can do about it? Except maybe help out the Bump Evangeline Lilly Contest?
In 5 years, are you going to go back to every website you ever posted something on and remove the content if it happens to be deamed inappropriate? If I do some searching I can find posts of mine that date back to 1998, and probably even earlier.
What happens if someone decides to try and play a joke and make it look like you posted it? How are you going to disprove that it wasn't really you that posted the content?
All to often we jump into action and create laws and policies that are not well thoughout. Most of the time these self correct themselves, but not always and someone has to be in the bad position to challenge it in the first place. So when will the Government, School District, Mayor, Govorner, Representative, etc figure out that you can't legislate everything and that if there is an existing law that on the books that covers the physical world it should cover cyberspace as well.
