Ipod Fix...

Everyone has or eventually will experience the dreaded click.... click... click... noise of their ipod's hard drive when its eventual death has come to be. I recently discovered by 1. Simply opening your ipod 2. Disconnecting your drive ,  3. Turning the ipod back on and letting it boot until it gives you an error 4. Turning off the ipod 5. reconnecting the drive and 6. Turning the ipod back on will fix it....

I have no idea why this works but i have had 100% success with 3 ipods; 4g; 3G; and ipod mini

Try it.. let me know how you fare
and by the way this voids your warranty

Very cool. Was the data still there or did this case the drive to be format/re-initialized? That makes me curious about what the problem was... Usually that clicking noise is a telltale sign of a hardware problem on a drive.

Keep us updated. I'd like to hear how long the drives keep going after they've been resucitated.

data, definitely

ipod fix..

I have 2 dead ipods.

I tried your fix on one of them and its going well. I passed the sad face icon stage (never got past that before), and it linked to iTunes (took a while though).

Unfortunately I had to restore it. But thats OK as its never even gotten that far before.

It asked me to plug it into a wall adapter to charge the battery as the battery is flat.
Now I have to wait for it to charge up and reload it.

Then the real test is using it in the field again... So far so good..Thanks for the post!

i have a 30G...do you think

i have a 30G...do you think it will work with that type too..
and if so..
can you explain step by step what to do..
