Zach loves our Roomba. He chases it around the room, plays with the buttons, and tries to climb on top of it. His favorite word (and his first) is "oomba".
The other night we were over at a friends' house. They also have a Roomba that Zach loves to beat up. As we were watching Zach turn the Roomba on and off we came up with the million dollar idea to make a Roomba just for kids--durable and colorful.
Well, our million dollar idea has been stolen once again... Well, sort of.
myRoomBud has designed custom Roomba costumes. You can dress up your Roomba as Roobit the Frog, Slops the Pig, or RoomBette - La French Maid.
What I find really cool about myRoomBud is that the company is run by kids:
myRoomBud is a profitable, privately owned company started by kids, built by kids, and run by kids. What started out as a way to make a bit of extra money to buy Mom some cowboy boots for Christmas has grown into a thriving business. myRoomBud designs and sells costume covers for iRobot Roombas. With over 1.5 million Roombas with loving homes and over half of the Roomba owners already naming their Roombas, that sound you hear is the call of those Roombas from all over the world screaming for clothes ... and as we always say, "If you don't dress up your Roomba, it's just a naked vacuum."
I think we could still build and program a Roomba geared towards kids. Dressing it up real cute is a start though.
