As of July 8, Dell has shut down their Customer Support Forums in order to avoid bad publicity.
It seems like any friend or family member that has owned a Dell, 9 times out of 10, their computer is malfunctioning. We have a Dell Inspiron 8000 laptop and I'm about ready to throw it out the window. Here are a list of problems we've had with our laptop:
Possessed mouse: The mouse touchpad has a mind of its own. Good luck in trying to control the mouse because, no matter what, it will cruise to the upper-righthand corner of the screen.
Punchy keyboard: You literally have to punch your fingers on the keys several times in order for the letters to show up on the screen. Occasionally, the letters will show up multiple times (i.e., nnnnnnnn) when you only pushed the letter once.
Fire starting power adaptor: We received a letter from Dell a few months ago stating that they are recalling our power adaptor and replacing it for free. Supposedly, the faulty power adaptors have started some fires.
Junky DVD/CD-ROM drive: Good luck in trying to play a DVD or reinstall software, the drive doesn't work.
Having been a PC user for the majority of my life, the problems that we've had with our Dell laptop has converted me into a devout Apple user. Ask me what brand you should buy, I would say, "Apple all the way." Granted, I've had my problems with Apple Customer Service, but at least my MAC hasn't caused me to pull my hair out.
My name is Stella and I have been an Apple user for 3 years.
