Ok some of you may have wondered how I made my screen captured videos of my Christmas Light Animations. So I decided to write a tutorial for those who want to share.
First off you will need Windows Media Encoder 9. You can find it at this Link
After Installing WME 9 Then follow the following steps: 1: Start Light-O-Rama's Sequence Editor
2. Open the Animation Window
Zoom to 1 click above the smallest zoom
We will use this point later to line up the capture window
Take note of these numbers for use later
3. Start Windows Media Encoder
Select Capture Screen from new session wizard
Select Next
4. Choose Capture Region
Select Next
5. Choose Capture Region
Click the Select region button: **Click on the very top left corner of the LOR Animation Screen, Bullet 2 in Step 2, Be very careful in this alignment you can end up with a gray line on one of the sides of your video
Back in the Screen Region Dialog of the wizard Choose your width and height according to this formula, 4 * Width and Height from LOR Animation Screen, Step 2 Bullet 3. EG, 75 x 100 = 300 x 400
Select Next *** Capture audio does not need to be checked here Picture is wrong
6. Name your file
Select Next
7. Choose High Quality
Select Next
8. Make your ID tags
Select Next
9. Make your ID tags
Select Finish
10. This screen will appear
Select Properies
11. Enable Audio
Check the Audio Checkbox
Select your Audio Device
Select Configure
12. Change Input Mix
Select yoru input line to Stereo mix, or Wave Output.
Press OK
13. Change Input Mix
Select Compression Tab
Select Destination as Windows Media Server(streaming)
I usually do 548 kbps you can go lower or higher if you want.
Click apply
Timing is critical here if you don't want to have to do some cutting of the output file. so do this step and the one with the next picture pretty fast..... Click Start Encoding.... Windows Media Encoder will minimize.
14. Click play on LOR Sequence Editor
15. Wait for Animation to complete
Once animation completes click on the start menu to restore windows media encoder... At this point encoding will stop... but be sure to click stop in windows media encoder to close the file.
Congratulations you just finished your video
Some notes:
I usually don't maximize my light-o-rama sequence editor, i have it off to the left side and have my animation window to the right so it doesn't get covered up
Dont move the animation window once you map your screen region unless you want to do it again
Every once in awhile my computer gets overtaxed and misses some changes so i have to redo a video
cant think of any more right now so enjoy your videos.
