Scientists create first non-stick chewing gum

Scientists have created the world's first non-stick chewing gum. Having had the stuff on the bottoms of shoes or the knees of my pants when sitting at a table, I say, "What a great idea!"

Washed off pavements by rain alone, it could save millions in cleaning costs - and put an end to the days of having to scrape discarded gum from shoes, clothing and even out of the hair.

Said to be tasty and chewy without being sticky, the Rev 7 gum , as it is called, could be on sale early next year.

Its development, by scientists at Bristol University, could end a 25-year world-wide quest to find a low-adhesion chewing gum.

Made of a mixture of synthetic rubber, chalk, wax, sugar and flavourings, chewing gum's stickiness comes from an adhesive compound also used in car tyres.

The scientists say they have managed to replace this with a non-stick synthetic material.

Sure, it's a great idea, but as I read the mixture of the gum I'm not so sure it's something I want to put in my mouth.

If you are a black licorice lover -- not many of us are -- and want to get your hands on the good stuff, you may want to visit an online store I discovered when searching for a Christmas present for my black licorice addict hubby.

Licorice International is a Nebraska based company that sells licorice from all around the world. They have samplers, bulk items. baskets, and a Licorice of the Month Club. I've only ordered from them once, but my experience with them was excellent. I received my shipment promptly and they included a free sample package of a licorice they thought we might like.

Good licorice is hard to find so be sure to check out their site.

Candy cigarettes and now hemp candy

All of you who grew up before the 90s probably remember those candy cigarettes you could purchase at your local candy store. Nowadays, candy cigarettes are either not sold or completely outlawed. We are in the 2000s now and there is a new candy coming out which is getting mixed reviews.

Ok, so I was looking at the Harry Potter Jelly Belly post, and I started browsing the Jelly Belly shop. I was looking at some of the new stuff, because Jelly Belly is usually pretty innovative with flavors and candies, but apparently they aren't anymore. Yep, that's right, Jelly Belly's now come in a SPORT variety. Don't believe me? Look for yourself. The purpose of the beans is to "boost energy and maintain hydration." Cool, all the fat kids can eat jelly beans while they're jogging now!

As many of you know, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince will be released on July 16th. Now working at a bookstore and not having read any of the Harry Potter books (yes--I live in a cave), I find myself with raised eyebrows overhearing managers scuttle about trying to organize the upcoming Potter Party. “Did you find that number for the owl renting service?!!�? “The talking toilet will fit perfectly there.�? “I don’t think that is going to be enough Troll Boogers for the number of people...�?
