Paint That Shit Gold

We launched paintthatshitgold.com today to coincide with the release of Atmosphere's new album, "When Life Give You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold".

The site allows you capture and tag your favorite corners of the web (or your least favorite, if you're the glass half empty type) all while listening to songs from the album. Check it out, you'll find an audio player with a legit equalizer (finally!), and a realtime web capture utility.

My sad attempt to be a graffiti artist is pictured above. I'm pretty sure that you folks will be able to do better.

To make the web capture stuff work, we had to build a little internet rendering farm to tap into the pipes and process all those juicy slices of interweb that people are sending in. I've literally got one of fifteen or so machines sitting on my desk right now that's sole purpose in life is to load up web pages and screen capture them for Atmosphere fans. How cool is that?

Light Reading Chandelier

Designer Lucy Norman uses unwanted used books to create attractive chandeliers.

The World of Books.com sell second hand books which they receive from the British Heart Foundation charity. 25% of the books they receive cannot be sold as no-one will buy them, which is approximately 10,000 a week. Presently these books have to be land filled which is costly and detrimental to the environment. These wasted books are used to create an attractive chandelier. Every page of the book is folded in half, producing a circular arrangement which hangs around a ceiling light.

Airport Runway Extension on Pillars

Well Done, a baked annual report

Well Done is an annual report put out by food company Podravka. Designed by creative agency Bruketa & Zinic, this annual report needs to be baked in order for the text of the document to be visible. Link.

Rings exchange contact information with just a handshake

Imagine exchanging your contact information with another person with just a handshake. Hideaki Matsui, Dong Ho Yun and Jea Wan Park won the 2007 Red Dot Award for Interaction & Communication design for designing a ring that does just that...

Shaking hands is a customary greeting action. Handshake brings the action one step further by creating an information transfer function. Handshake operates when people first meet and shake hands, and the rings on their fingers gain the proximity to operate. The rings exchange the users’ information and store it while the users are shaking hands. The more people met, the more information transferred. When the users browse through the people they have met, the card displays the basic information that was stored in the ring. The power source originates from the human body temperature, so no plug is required.

Creative Library Exteriors

You shouldn't have a problem locating the libraries in Cardiff and Kansas City.

The exterior of the Cardiff library is only temporary until the building is completed, however, the "novel" exterior of Kansas City's library carpark is permanent. Link.

We are multicolored is a site where you can express your uniqueness by designing your own flag.

we are multicolored is a collaboration between Matthew Brown, Jeremy Hutchison and Joe Marianek.

The project was made for the Lower East Side Tenement Museum’s Digital Artists in Residence Program. It aims to promote awareness around the contemporary immigrant experience. In keeping with its mission, the museum takes no position on the definitions of flags, but rather encourages the expression of multiple perspectives.

Furniture Follies is a company that specializes in hand made furniture that not only looks like buildings, but also provides ample amounts of storage. What I like most about the furniture is the child-like presence it gives to a room.

The furniture is made by Patrick Owen who is an Englishman who is based out of Normandy.
