No Facebook? I'm quitting!

If Facebook was banned at your job would you consider quitting? Apparently, some people would.

A recent survey by IT services provider Telindus found that a whopping 39 percent of 18-to-24-year-olds would consider leaving their jobs if a Facebook ban was imposed, reports vnunet.com. Another 21 percent said they’d feel “annoyed” by such a ban.

Those kids need a big kick in the pants.

Bank intern busted by Facebook

Kevin Colvin, a bank intern, had told his boss that he was missing a couple days of work due to a "family emergency". Apparently, his boss checked out Colvin's Facebook page and found out that the "family emergency" was more like a Halloween party. Colvin's boss passed this photo on to the rest of the office and, of course, is making the rounds on the the wonderful world wide web. You can check out the email thread here. Funny stuff.

Hatebook connects you to people you hate

Hatebook is a Facebook parody which connects you to people you hate and provides a place for you to whine about everything wrong with your life.

Mark Hendrickson over at TechCrunch writes:

Hatebook looks and functions much like Facebook, except with an evil twist for everything. The color scheme is hellish red, profiles include a section called “Why I’m Better Than You!”, and members can create “Hate Albums” that consist of photos and descriptions of things they hate.

The German creators of this jaundiced social network have done a surprisingly good job replicating much of Facebook’s functionality, and they have even thrown in some useful features not found as a default on that more popular website. Google Maps are integrated into Hatebook so you can visually locate other members by looking for their avatars on a map. You can also see which members have last visited particular profiles.

But don’t play around with Hatebook too much if you are concerned about privacy, because all messages (”junkmail”) are viewable by all other users, and there are no privacy controls.
