Kevin Fanning and Kean Soo put together hilarious rhymes and illustrations called Baby's First Internet.

Not sure how to explain the internet to your young ones? Presenting a series of nursery rhymes to teach children how to comport themselves on the online.

1000 Beasts by glowingskeleton

glowingskeleton illustrated a series of one thousand illustrations of beasts which will be appearing in the the Fantagraphics art book Beasts! Volume 2 later on this year.

Jason bought Beasts! last year and it's actually quite a fascinating and eclectic book. The art book describes mythical beasts from around the world and the illustrations were provided by various talented artists.

Dance of the Flight Attendant: An illustrative look at the in-flight safety demo

Illustrator Jen Wang has made the in-flight safety demo look graceful and somewhat lyrical by this illustration called Dance of the Flight Attendant. Unless you are flying on a smaller plane, this "art form" is slowly going away and being replaced by in-flight videos.

Howto: Draw Steampunk Machines

I-Wei Huang has been featured in some well-known magazines such as Wired and MAKE for his steampunk machines. Best known for his real-life works, I-Wei has now put together a complete howto on how to draw steampunk machines.

Mission:
The purpose of this web page is not to teach you how to draw. I will not be going though the technique, perspective, color, line weight, software, or any of the stuff you can easily surf up. This page is to inform artists who want to draw steampunk machines but don't quite understand how steam works. The focus is to add enough elements to your drawings, to make your steampunk machines more believable.

Validation:
I feel that too often, steampunk designs are too fancy. They go too cool and end up loosing the all important look & feel of old tech steampunk. I think that it is important to state that I make real working steampunk machines / robots for a hobby. My steam site: Crabfu SteamWorks, contains lots of miniature, real working, live - steam machines. There has been overwhelming media coverage of my work, probably because I took it from the fake sci-fi movie magic, into the real world. Through experience and trial and error, I've learned not only to make something look like it would work, but actually does work.
