M&M's Dark Chocolate Online 50 Dark Movies Game

M&M's has put together an online game in order to promote their Dark Chocolate. The object of the game is to figure out what 'dark' movies are hidden within the large image. I see it as more of a series of riddles rather than a game.

So far, I've figured out 25 of the 50 movies. I'm starting to struggle now because I don't watch many dark movies.

How many can you get? Play the game. I dare you.

Monday Riddle #32 Solution

It's been an interesting few days and now I'm playing catch-up. I don't have a new riddle, but I do have the solution to last week's riddle.

Here is the solution to last week's riddle:

Riddle #73:
The neighbour borrowed an extra cow, to make the total number of cows 18. Then the oldest son got 1/2 of 18 is 9 cows, the middle son got 1/3 of 18 is 6 cows, and the youngest son got 1/9 of 18 is 2 cows. Since 9+6+2 = 17, the cows could be divided among the three brothers in such a way that the borrowed cow was left over, and could be returned to its owner.

I had a nice Monday Riddle vacation last week and am back this week with a new riddle. Here it is:

Riddle #73: [via]
An old farmer died and left 17 cows to his three sons. In his will, the farmer stated that his oldest son should get 1/2, his middle son should get 1/3, and his youngest son should get 1/9 of all the cows. The sons, who did not want to end up with half cows, sat for days trying to figure out how many cows each of them should get.

One day, their neighbour came by to see how they were doing after their father's death. The three sons told him their problem. After thinking for a while, the neighbour said: "I'll be right back!" He went away, and when he came back, the three sons could divide the cows according to their father's will, and in such a way that each of them got a whole number of cows.

What was the neighbour's solution?

I know it's Tuesday, but it feels like a Monday. Sorry for the delay... Here's this week's Monday Riddle:

Riddle #72: [via]
An evil king has 1000 bottles of wine. A neighboring queen plots to kill the bad king, and sends a servant to poison the wine. The king's guards catch the servant after he has only poisoned one bottle. The guards don't know which bottle was poisoned, but they do know that the poison is so potent that even if it was diluted 1,000,000 times, it would still be fatal. Furthermore, the effects of the poison take one month to surface. The king decides he will get some of his prisoners in his vast dungeons to drink the wine. Rather than using 1000 prisoners each assigned to a particular bottle, this king knows that he needs to murder no more than 10 prisoners to figure out what bottle is poisoned, and will still be able to drink the rest of the wine in 5 weeks time. How does he pull this off?

Once outside the closet, no man can see his own hat. The first man looks at the other two, thinks, and says, “I cannot tell what colour my hat is.” The second man hears this, looks at the other two, and says, “I cannot tell what colour my hat is either.” The third man is blind. The blind man says, “Well, I know what colour my hat is.” What colour is his hat?

Riddle 70:
In a certain matriarchal town, the women all believe in an old prophecy that says there will come a time when a stranger will visit the town and announce whether any of the men folks are cheating on their wives. The stranger will simply say “yes” or “no”, without announcing the number of men implicated or their identities. If the stranger arrives and makes his announcement, the women know that they must follow a particular rule: If on any day following the stranger’s announcement a woman deduces that her husband is not faithful to her, she must kick him out into the street at 10 A.M. the next day. This action is immediately observable by every resident in the town. It is well known that each wife is already observant enough to know whether any man (except her own husband) is cheating on his wife. However, no woman can reveal that information to any other. A cheating husband is also assumed to remain silent about his infidelity.

The time comes, and a stranger arrives. He announces that there are cheating men in the town. On the morning of the 10th day following the stranger’s arrival, some unfaithful men are kicked out into the street for the first time. How many of them are there?

Apparently this is an IQ test given to job applicants in Japan:

The object of the game is to get everyone across the river. This is a test some Japanese applicants have to take when applying for a job in Japan. Once you begin this test, it's hard to stop. You feel so determined to get these people across. The instructions are listed below.

To start
Click on link, and then click on the big blue circle. The rules are as follows:

Only 2 persons on the raft at a time
The father can not stay with any of the daughters, without their mother's presence
The mother can not stay with any of the sons, without their father's presence
The thief (striped shirt) can not stay with any family memb! er, if The Policeman is not there
Only the Father, the Mother and the Policeman know how to! operate the raft
To start click on the big blue circle on the right.
To move the people click on them.
To move the raft click on the pole on the opposite side of the river.

If you can do this correctly? You can land a job in Japan!

Here is this week's riddle... Hopefully this one will be a bit more challenging :)

The story behind Einstein's riddle is that Albert Einstein created it in the late 1800s, and claimed that 98% of the world population couldn't solve it. I am not sure of the true origin, but I have seen this one floating around the internet, and it is a good brain exercise.

Here it is:
- In a street there are five houses, painted five different colors.
- In each house lives a person of different nationality
- These five homeowners each drink a different kind of beverage, smoke different brand of cigar and keep a different pet.

Einstein's riddle is: Who owns the fish?

Necessary clues:
1. The British man lives in a red house.
2. The Swedish man keeps dogs as pets.
3. The Danish man drinks tea.
4. The Green house is next to, and on the left of the White house.
5. The owner of the Green house drinks coffee.

No physical damage was done to the car, it was still locked.

During WWII, there was a bridge connecting Germany and Switzerland, and on the German side, there was a sentry tower with a guard in it. He would come out every three minutes to check on the bridge, and he had orders to turn back anyone who tried to get into Germany, and shoot anyone trying to escape without a pass. There was a woman who desperately needed to get into Switzerland, and she knew she didn't have time to get a pass. It would take her at least six minutes to cross the bridge, but she managed to do it. How?
