A human foot found on coast of British Columbia, 6th this year

A human foot encased in a running shoe was found along the shorelines of the Strait of Georgia, southwest of Vancouver. This is the second foot encased in a running shoe found this week and the sixth within a year.

Authorities say they haven't reached any conclusions about the origin of the feet but are working to determine if there are any links to any other partial remains recovered in the province.

"Too my knowledge, we have not encountered anything like this," RCMP spokeswoman Annie Linteau told The Associated Press Wednesday evening. She declined to speculate if foul play was involved.

Update: Turns out the 6th foot found was a hoax. It turned out to be an animal paw that was placed in a sock and athletic shoe that was stuffed with dried seaweed. Link [via]

No Facebook? I'm quitting!

If Facebook was banned at your job would you consider quitting? Apparently, some people would.

A recent survey by IT services provider Telindus found that a whopping 39 percent of 18-to-24-year-olds would consider leaving their jobs if a Facebook ban was imposed, reports vnunet.com. Another 21 percent said they’d feel “annoyed” by such a ban.

Those kids need a big kick in the pants.

Parents granted permission to name son 'Lego'

A couple in Sweden have been given permission to name their son 'Lego'.

Couples in Sweden have previously run into trouble with officials over the names Ikea, Veranda, Metallica and the use of Elvis for a girl.

But the Swedish Administrative Court of Appeals has now overruled an earlier decision to stop a couple naming their child after the brightly coloured plastic building blocks.

In Swedish law, offensive, unsuitable or inappropriate names are all forbidden, as well as names that could embarrass the people they are given to.

Guiness World Record's Largest Fake Breasts

Seriously? Stripper Maxi Mounds made the Guiness World Book of Records with her 36MM fake breasts.

Each of her breasts weighs 20 pounds – and they are still growing, thanks to the controversial "polypropylene string" treatment that created them.

Unimpressed by the results of standard silicone implants, Ms Mounds had plastic string inserted into her breasts in 2000.

The implant irritates the breast, causing the release of body fluids that inflate the area still further.

The procedure – which was only really popular among adult entertainers and sex workers – has since been banned in Britain and the United States due to concerns about its safety.

When a Japanese man was baffled as to how food kept disappearing from his kitchen, he decided to set up a hidden camera which found something quite unsettling.

The 57-year-old unemployed man of Fukuoka in southern Japan called police Wednesday when the camera sent pictures to his mobile phone of an intruder in his home while he was out on Wednesday, the Asahi newspaper said on its Website.

Officers rushed to the house and found a 58-year-old unemployed woman hiding in an unused closet, where she had secreted a mattress and plastic drink bottles, the Asahi said. Police suspect she may have been there for several months, the paper said.

Peers vote out 5-year-old classmate from class, teacher's idea

A kindergarten teacher in Florida allowed students to vote out a fellow classmate, who is in the process of being diagnosed with autism, from the class.

After each classmate was allowed to say what they didn't like about Barton's 5-year-old son, Alex, his Morningside Elementary teacher Wendy Portillo said they were going to take a vote, Barton said.

By a 14 to 2 margin, the students voted Alex — who is in the process of being diagnosed with autism — out of the class.

Melissa Barton filed a complaint with Morningside's school resource officer, who investigated the matter, Port St. Lucie Department spokeswoman Michelle Steele said. But the state attorney's office concluded the matter did not meet the criteria for emotional child abuse, so no criminal charges will be filed, Steele said.

Multi-scissor haircut

Danny Bargil is a hair stylist who is attempting to break his previous Guinness World Record of a nine-scissor haircut by now performing a 10-scissor cut. Link to video.

I wonder what the guidelines are to achieve the record. If my hands were able to hold 10 pairs of scissors at one time, I could probably break the record. Granted, the haircut would look horrible, but I could manage to snip off a few hairs... and ears.

I have to agree, it does look like Jesus on the cross! That would totally put me at peace if it were my ultrasound. I had a similar experience when I was pregnant which is why I think I like this story in particular.

Mom wrongfully jailed for daughter's murder

Tabitha Pollock was charged with first degree murder after her boyfriend killed Tabitha's 3-year-old daughter. Prosecutors believed she should have known of the danger so she spent more than six years in prison. The Illinois Supreme Court threw out of the conviction, but Pollock is still waiting for an official pardon from the governor of Illinois to completely clear her name. She's been waiting since 2002. 13-year-old spikes classmate's lunch with peanuts, classmate severely allergic

A 13-year-old was arrested on felony wanton endangerment chargers for allegedly putting peanut butter cookie crumbs in the lunch box of a classmate with a severe peanut allergy.

"The contaminated lunch box could have resulted in a significant allergic reaction — potentially life-threatening, depending on the child's history," says Dr. Kathy Sheerin, of the Atlanta Allergy and Asthma Clinic, in Atlanta.

Under the Kentucky statue for wanton endangerment, a person is guilty "when, under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to the value of human life, he wantonly engages in conduct which creates a substantial danger of death or serious physical injury to another person."

Brain tumor caused man's paedophilia

Supposedly, a brain tumor the size of an egg located on a 40-year-old man's right lobe of the orbifrontal cortex caused uncontrollable paedophilia. Neurologists had said that the paedophilia went away after the tumor was removed.

"We're dealing with the neurology of morality here," says Swerdlow. Since the area does not affect physical health, "it's one of those areas where you could have a lot of damage and a doctor would never suspect something's wrong," he says.

"He wasn't faking," says Burns. "But if someone argues that every paedophile needs a MRI, the difference in this case was that the patient had a normal history before he acquired the problem. Most paedophiles develop problems early on in life."
