NES controller/coffee table that actually works!

giant NES controller coffee table Mother's Day is this Sunday and what I would really like is a working giant NES controller coffee table.  As if a working giant NES controller isn't cool enough, the table opens up to provide ample storage for all of your stuff.

The NES coffee table was built by Kyle Downes of the "Ultra Awesome" blog.

Compubeaver, Nature and technology converge

CompubeaverKasey McMahon has combined nature and technology into one with her Compubeaver creation.  The Compubeaver is a fully operational computer housed within a beaver.  (You can view the behind-the-scenes 'Making of the Compubeaver' here.)

This beats mounting a deer head on the mantle.  At least this is functional.

nekobus cat busFans of the Studio Ghibli film My Neighbor Totoro decided to mod their vehicles to look like the Nekobus (Cat Bus) in the movie.

Crazy Car

I was browsing makezine and found something I thought you guys should see.
Crazy Car
This has got to be the coolest car mod I have ever seen. It is made to look as though it is driving backwards, and it can drive almost sideways. Kinda makes me want to get a Fiat and try this out myself.

iKitchen: Mac Mini internet appliance

iKitchenHere is a really great case mod and howto for embedding a Mac Mini into a wall.

Lilmuckers tricked out his mini and created a custom faceplate that sits within the kitchen wall, providing access to the USB ports, video connection, and power button. The result looks very pro - no wires, clean design, and matches the other wall plates that surround it.

This sort of thing makes me wish Moore's law wasn't still in effect, but a nice mod like this should continue to impress for at least a few years before an upgrade is in order. Either way, I'm jealous.

A 4-port ethernet seal!

Ethernet Seal Hub

Well, I recently purchased a 4 port ethernet hub and decided that I wasn't happy enough with it as it was out of the box. So, I decided that I would rip the guts out and put it into a stuffed seal. I tried a CD rack, but that just didn't have the same appeal. I'd much rather my ethernet hub be cute, cuddly, and completely pointless, instead of being cold, hard, and ergonomical. And yes, I was extremely bored at the moment. You may notice that one of the eyes is a little off center. That just adds to the cuteness. Here are some horrible pictures of it taken with a cell phone:
