Human Pixels Perform Real-Time Animation

Samsung dancersThis video clip is making the rounds through the internet.  I'm posting it here in case you haven't see it yet -- It's a must see!

From Gizmodo:

These Samsung-sponsored dancers take football-stadium card flipping to the next level with this inspired routine. They combine computer-generated choreography, perfect synchronization, custom-designed costumes that can instantly reveal a variety of colors and a level of cooperation that's probably not even possible in America. Wow.

Stop-Motion Dance Off

stop motion dance offCheck out this fun stop-motion hip-hop dance off video.  The camera work is a little shakey, but still worth a look.

Mario themed high school dance

Mario castle Needham Broughton High School found a way to make their geeks feel right at home at their "Queen of Hearts" dance with a Super Mario Bros. theme.

The dance included a skit where Mario and Luigi rescue the queen from the castle.

Check out the photo gallery here.  The photos aren't the best quality, but it's worth a look.

Harlem original, Chicken Noodle Soup dance

Chicken Noodle Soup is sweeping the nation and, no, I'm not talking about the stuff you buy at the grocery store.  Chicken Noodle Soup is a dance that originated in Harlem, NYC and is making the rounds to a high school dance or wedding near you.

The dance became so popular that Harlem natives DJ Webstar and Young B created a song to go with the moves.  You can view the lyrics here

The dance moves are fairly simple, but kids will put their own spin on the moves.  YouTube has a ridiculous amount of Chicken Noodle Dance videos that you can view, but this one is probably the best example.

Here is a quick Chicken Noodle Dance howto:

  1. I Let It Rain - Let your hands trickle down like rain in front of your body.
  2. I Clear It Out - Spread both hands to the side as if clearing out the rain.
  3. Chicken Noodle Soup - Pump your arms up and down behind your back (kind of like a chicken) and kick out your feet.
  4. ...With A Soda On The Side - Reach your arms to the side like you're reaching for a soda.
  5. Repeat
You can view the video here for a howto visual.

Don't expect me to be doing this dance.  I'd just look like a chicken running around with my head cut off.

Before you head off to another lazy weekend, you should relax, unwind, and watch a mind-blowing video. I'm at a bit of a loss for how to categorize this as it features some really quality dance moves, synthed out hip hop, and a micro bruce lee with a chipmunk voice all packaged up in a campy Bollywood wrapper.

Awesome.

The Evolution of Dance

dance evolutionI got a kick out of watching this comedian demonstrating the evolution of dance.  Admit it...  You've done one or two of these dance moves.  (If you've attended at least one wedding in your life, you have done ALL of them!)

I still think my sprinkler and running man are da bomb!

Learn to Dance with Napoleon Dynamite

Napoleon Dynamite

I don't know about you guys, but I could benefit from learning some moves from Napoleon Dynamite. Learn such moves as the "Drunken Grandpa," "Crouching Llama, Hidden Emu," and "Turkish Twist."

So put on your favorite moonboots and "Vote for Pedro" t-shirt, and start grooving.

Check it out!

DDR Induced Labor

Dance Dance Revolution

Throughout my pregnancy people would ask me, "So, are you tired of being pregnant?" I would reply, "I wouldn't mind being pregnant forever"... until I got into my ninth month.

I was getting very anxious as my due date approached. I didn't want to be overdue, and it was coming to the point where I didn't think Zach would come early anymore, much less on-time.

When expressing my feelings to others about the possibility of being overdue, I heard a lot of advice about different ways to naturally induce labor. Spicy food. Long walks. Hanky panky. But nobody mentioned what ended up working for me: Dance Dance Revolution.
