On June 12, 1970, former Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Dock Ellis pitched a no-hitter while on LSD. A year before he died at the age of 63 in 2008, he recorded an interview in which he gave a detailed play-by-play of what happened on that day he had the no-hitter against the San Diego Padres. When James Blagden and No Mas came across the interview, they created an animated short film using the original audio.

Single ladies, have I got the man for you...

Melodymaker writes:

The story is this:  a girl was out with friends having drinks on King St (in Toronto ).  This guy approaches her and won't leave her alone -saying how cute she is. She finally gives in  and hands the guy her business card to get rid of him.

The attached  is an MP3 file of not one, but TWO voicemails this guy left. This goes down  in the history books - especially the second voice mail.
After hearing them you can clearly see why she didn't call him back - instead  she called in to the Z103.5 morning show & had them play this on the air.
Ladies: He is out there... :)

The Bridge, Homemade Star Trek Home Theater

The Bridge Home TheaterPhiladelphia-man Gary Reighn has caused Trekkies all over the world to salivate.  On a $15,000 budget, Reighn designed and built his very home home theater resembling the bridge found on the Star Trek Enterprise.

Here is the link to Reighn's site, The Bridge Home Theater, where he details the construction and includes tons of pictures.

Woofers, Creepy alternative to obnoxious audio equipment

woofers speakersDo you have speakers that are so obnoxiously big that they are an eye-sore when you have company over?  Here is a creepy $756 alternative that shows off your speakers in an artistic and unusual way.  Woofers are speakers that are designed in the shape of a dog with the head cut off.

I don't know, I think we'll stick with the speakers we have.  Dogs without heads are a little too creepy for me.

Make a turntable out of an old floppy drive

Floppy TurntableAn article over at Audio Oragami shows how you can convert an old floppy drive into a turntable, on which you can spin your favorite wax.

With a few tweaks, you can hack the disk controller electronics to run the floppy moter at a fixed speed. You may not want to go replacing your 1200s, but you can bring this one along and run it anywhere off a 3.6volt nimh battery.

When you begin reading, you are already on a mission to find an answer. You follow along as the story unfolds, and when you've finished reading, you discover for yourself if the story is a tragedy, a comedy, or just a rewarding saga with a happy ending. The conclusion you reach is entirely dependant on your own skill and the writing efficacy of your narrator.

The howto is a unique sort of story, because in a howto, you, the reader, are the protagonist.
