Annoucing my website for the CLAUSE Project http://palmbaylights.com

I have Launched the website, and am almost finished putting up lights. More to come soon.

Yesterday I started putting up lights for my Christmas display. Everybody kept on saying, Halloween isn't even here yet don't put you lights up. I told them I don't want to feel rushed later because I am going to have my official lighting ceremony the Friday after Thanksgiving.

Anyway I have finished all the lights that are up on my gutterline 14 strings of 150 lights a total of 2100 lights. And I am just getting started.... Evilgrin.

I ran into a couple problems once they were up and I was starting to test them. Half of one strand of Icicles is out, I still need to go figure out what bulb is bad.

Dell Axim x51v PDA

This is gratuitous self advertising, but I am selling my Dell Axim x51v PDA, I found I don't use it too much, it works fine but I would prefer having the money for Christmas presents. IE. being able to pay Jessi for her Purse Making Work that she is doing for me.

Here is the EBay Link.

clause_lor_1.jpgI know its been a while since I have talked much about this project, but I have  been busily working on it for the past few months.

I believe I last left you off in Part 1 with Pictures of my FM Transmitter assembly completed. Since then I have assembled my Light-O-Rama [LOR] Controllers, pulled power and signal wires, Built and mounted enclosures, and sequenced some songs.

V-VP-CarsonWilliams-WizardsInWinter.jpg As you all might remember I posted about Christmas Lights Transiberian Orchestra Style last December. You also might remember I said my wife wouldn't let me do it to our own house. She reconsidered and we will be doing it this year we have been planning it for a few months and I figured now that I am starting my assembly phase that I should document it as well as writing a tutorial on how to do it yourself.

The first thing you need to know is you need a light controller. One of the better companies out there that sell light controllers needed to run the displays is Light-O-Rama. They are easy to program using their software.

LED Bonsai Tree

LED bonsai treeTake a look at this bonsai tree.  It's made out of 128 PCBs, 1152 LEDs, 256 resistors, and 200m of solid core cable, and powered by a 4A DC power supply.  Very cool.

This is much cooler then the USB turd he made.

Electro-graf

electro-graf An electro-graf is a graffiti piece or throw-up that uses conductive and magnetic paint to embed LED display electronics.

Here is a complete DIY (pics included) on how to make your very own electro-graf.

Exercise Bike Surgery

Pro_Form_XP_70_Exercise_Bike-resized200.jpgMy exercise bike broke today, well not mechanically, the circuit board is toast, I have no clue why. Well, because I am so very excited about working out everyday, I am really bummed. [And if you believe that I have a nice tropical paradise in Antarctica to sell you.]

So I do want to exercise more, but at the moment I cannot increase or decrease the tension on the bike, Nor can I get the RPMs or anything like that. There is a solution though.

  1. I could buy another Junky "Console" from sears and replace the old one for $169.99
  2. I can make a small circuit with a microcontroller, low power motor driver, and a character LCD display for under $50, and Have fun while doing it.
Well guess what I am doing. The beginning details follow.

This One's for You, Jason

I know, it's been a while since I've posted here, and I really should change that. But when I came accross this, I immediately thought of Mr. Striegel, the main man here at blogcadre.

LEGO OR Gate

I was browsing digg for some cool content and came accross something amazing; a combination of electronics and LEGOs. No, I don't mean LEGO Mindstorms sets, nor do I mean any sort of third party robotics for LEGOs. The site is a demonstration of logic gates, commonly used in electronics and computer science, with LEGO pieces.
