The Frost family was blessed with a son every winter.  On the arrival of their seventh son, they began a tradition of purchasing a bell and ringing it to display their joy.  After the birth of the 14th son, the eldest sons were fed up and murdered their parents with the very bells that were used to symbolize the joyous births.

The Frost boys were feared so much that a bounty hunter named Nick Claus was hired by the locals to have all 14 boys captured, tortured and killed. 

Even though the Frost boys and dead and gone their eerie spirits still live on through this interactive website in which you can listen to them play four different Christmas tunes or record your very own Christmas tune, which you can send to a friend.  Nothing says 'Merry Christmas' more than a bunch a dead guys ringing bells.

Last year, OfficeMax created the very fun Elf Yourself site where you could upload a picture of yourself and send off e-cards to friends of family of you dancing around like a silly elf. They've updated their site and now you can upload up to four faces. 

If you are feeling more 'humbug' than 'ho ho ho', OfficeMax has created another site, Scrooge Yourself, which is more suited for those who are grumps during the holiday season.

Fritz Haarmann was a serial killer who murdered 24 young men and boys in the 1920s.  Apparently, a German tourism office included Haarman on their Advent calendar this year and it is not selling like hotcakes.

The cartoon calendar shows Fritz Haarmann, who murdered 24 young men and boys in the 1920s, lurking under a tree with a hatchet next to the door for December 1. Below him, Santa Claus hands out presents to children in a festive-looking Hanover.

A local tourism office included the serial killer alongside 23 other celebrities in the northern city, including philosopher Gottfried Leibniz and hard rock band The Scorpions.

Haarmann's depiction featured in last year's edition, but this year it is attracting wider attention because top-selling newspaper Bild questioned whether the use of the murderer in a children's calendar was in good taste.

"People are queuing up to buy the calendar now," said a surprised Hans Nolte, director of the city's tourism board.
