Mom wrongfully jailed for daughter's murder

Tabitha Pollock was charged with first degree murder after her boyfriend killed Tabitha's 3-year-old daughter.  Prosecutors believed she should have known of the danger so she spent more than six years in prison.  The Illinois Supreme Court threw out of the conviction, but Pollock is still waiting for an official pardon from the governor of Illinois to completely clear her name.  She's been waiting since 2002.  Link

A 13-year-old was arrested on felony wanton endangerment chargers for allegedly putting peanut butter cookie crumbs in the lunch box of a classmate with a severe peanut allergy.

"The contaminated lunch box could have resulted in a significant allergic reaction — potentially life-threatening, depending on the child's history," says Dr. Kathy Sheerin, of the Atlanta Allergy and Asthma Clinic, in Atlanta.

Under the Kentucky statue for wanton endangerment, a person is guilty "when, under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to the value of human life, he wantonly engages in conduct which creates a substantial danger of death or serious physical injury to another person."

Kiss of Death

Lovers, Xia Xinfeng and Mao Ansheng, literally had the kiss of death when Xinfeng passed a capsule filled with rat poison from her mouth to Ansheng.  Ansheng died.

Xinfeng had suspected Ansheng was cheating on her.  Supposedly, the couple had agreed that "if either one of them cheated on the other, he or she would have to die."

Xinfeng has been sentenced to death.

Anderson urinated on Lakinski as she collapsed on the street.  He also poured a bucket of water over her and smothered her in shaving cream.  The entire incident was captured on a mobile phone.

Anderson admitted to smoking a joint and drinking with friends before the incident occurred.  He will be sentenced on Oct. 22 after pleading guilty to "outraging public decency."  Link.

Google search helps catch a criminal

robert fainPam Smith had met Robert Fain on her birthday, February 24.  Since that time she had gone out with him 3 times and planned on meeting up with Fain again...  on the day he was captured.

Pam said Fain was going to pick her up in the courthouse parking lot later that evening for dinner. Ten minutes before that was supposed to happen, a friend told her  about looking people up on the internet.

"I typed in Robert Fain plus Maine," she recalled. "Maine's Most Wanted came up."

The website said Fain was wanted for writing bad checks and that Fain had an "extensive criminal history."

Pam promptly contacted the authorities and Fain was captured after some gunfire and a car chase.  He is now in jail awaiting trial.
