The Philippine government is seeking an apology from the producers of the TV series "Desperate Housewives" for a racial slur made against Filipino medics said by Teri Hatcher's character, Susan Mayer, on a recent episode. 
Teri Hatcher's character asked whether the person attending to her during a medical consultation "can I check those diplomas because I want to make sure that they're not from some med school in the Philippines."

As all of you have probably already heard, Luciano Pavarotti died after a yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer.  He was 71.  (TIME article)

I thought I would post a video clip in honor of Pavarotti.  In this video he is singing, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful songs ever to be written.  Pavarotti singing Schubert's Ave Maria.

Apparently, Fox is remaking the classic scifi flick "The Day the Earth Stood Still" and Keanu Reeves will be starring as Klaatu.  Please say it ain't so -- Keanu Reeves?

Comedian Drew Carey will be replacing Bob Barker on The Price is Right.

"I realize what a big responsibility this is," he said. "It's only a game show, but it's the longest-running game show in American television and I plan to keep it that way."

He will also be host of a new CBS prime-time game show, "The Power of 10," that will air first next month. He told The Associated Press on Monday that CBS officials first contacted him about "The Price is Right" immediately after he completed a pilot of the other game show this spring.

"My agent called me and said `I was talking to CBS casting today' and in my head I was thinking, `Oh, `CSI' guest star?' And he said what would you think about replacing Bob Barker on `The Price is Right?'"

Over at Life in the Office, a fansite for the popular TV show "The Office", a contest was held to see who could make the best Miis that resembled the characters on the show the most.  [via The Archer Bus]

I was unimpressed with the Miis I saw on Life in the Office when I saw what these guys did in one Saturday afternoon.  The titles of "The Office's #1 Fan" and "The Office Fan Club President" should definitely go to these guys.
