The Beatles: Rock Band releasing this year

Set to release in stores on September 9, 2009, The Beatles: Rock Band will definitely be a best-seller and the most expensive game ($59.99) for the Wii console.

The game is a collaboration between MTV, Harmonix—developers of the Rock Band series—and The Beatles’ Apple Corps. Ltd. (which does not make iPods). The game’s developers are striving to make it historically accurate and input from Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and Yoko Ono will only help them in this endeavor.

While Wii games are generally priced at $49.99, MTV has decided that The Beatles: Rock Band for Wii will have the same pricepoint as its later-generation counterparts on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360—$59.99. A $250 Limited Edition Premium bundle featuring the microphone, drums and guitar will also be available.

Mario Kart Wii

Information on the new version of Mario Kart for the Wii platform is starting to crop up, and folks are now reporting that it's going to support a 16-player online multiplayer mode!

It's been killing me that there aren't any great online titles for the Wii yet. The whole Wii experience is so driven by a friends-in-the-livingroom multiplayer mindset, it seems only natural that people should be able to goof around with friends online as well. I'm psyched that Mario Kart will have this capability, but just imagine if Wii Sports had shipped with this functionality.

22-month-old boy kicks butt at Wii Sports

"The Office" Miis

I was unimpressed with the Miis I saw on Life in the Office when I saw what these guys did in one Saturday afternoon.  The titles of "The Office's #1 Fan" and "The Office Fan Club President" should definitely go to these guys.

Japanese Gamers Superglue Wii-mote to Their Hands

Because of the increasing Wii-mote "slippage" incidents, Japanese kids have superglued the controllers to their hands

Kids in Japan have taken the innovative approach of using superglue to attach the Wii-mote to their hands. Parents see the approach as silly and dangerous, but teens in Japan see being Wii-handed as a status symbol.

"I like the Wii controller permanently on my hand. I never have to search for it, and the other kids think it is cool," said Yugi Tamagotchi of Tokyo.
Now if you think that sounds ridiculous, some gamers have approached doctors asking if they could have the controller surgically implanted on their hands.  This hasn't happened yet, but it's only a matter of time.

Mario Popsicle Stick Statue

mario popsicle stick statueWhile waiting in a 12-hour line for a Wii at Wal-Mart, Holden purchased popsicle sticks and glue in the arts and crafts section and created this statue of Mario.

Not bad for an impromptu job.  All you need is popsicle sticks, glue and lots of time on your hands.

I entirely agree.  I actually like the name now - and I feel comfortable saying it in public.
