Christmas Light Videos

Hey guys. I know its been a while since I have posted. I have been busy at work.

As you may or may not know, I put computer controlled Christmas lights on my house. They are synchronized to music and free to anybody who comes by my house. This year I have only added songs and not any lights.

The Cube starring Robert Schaal and directed by Jim HensonHere is an interesting and mind-screwing film called "The Cube" directed and produced by Jim Henson prior to his focus on the Muppets.  The film stars Robert Schaal as "The man in the cube".

From the Google video description:
This philosophical teleplay covers many themes such as, the nature of reality, individual versus scientific perception, self-reference, man's relation to others and society, insanity, social projections, and race relations. It originally aired on NBC's weekly anthology television show NBC Experiment in Television February 23, 1969. The production was produced and directed by Jim Henson, and was one of several experiments with the live-action film medium which he conducted in the 1960s, before focusing entirely on the Muppets and other puppet works. The screenplay was co-written by long-time Muppet writer Jerry Juhl (who also appears in a cameo).

Download Youtube and Google Videos

howto download youtube google videosJason wrote up a great post over at Hackszine on how to download Youtube and Google videos using Safari or Firefox:

There are a few different ways to get at the FLV file that the video player application is downloading. Safari users can use the Window->Activities feature to locate and download flv files as they are playing, and Joshua Kinberg put together a couple nice Greasemonkey scripts for Firefox that make downloading pretty simple.

Walking Motorbike

walking motorbikeI wonder if there are little elves working this walking motorbike...

I don't understand Japanese, but it looks like this is footage from a Japanese gag show.

Kushami Room, a gallery of Japanese sneezing

Japanese man sneezing"Kushami" means "sneeze" in Japanese.  Kushami Room is a gallery of movies of Japanese sneezing in commercials and game shows.

How do you sneeze on command?  Well, by sticking some kleenex up your nose, of course.

Classic Wilkins Coffee Jim Henson Ads

Henson Wilkins AdAfter posting the Yip-Yips, I did more reading about Sesame Street and Jim Henson, and stumbled upon these classic 1960s Wilkins Coffee ads, which starred Jim Henson's muppets.

...The greatly increased exposure led to hundreds of commercial appearances (mostly for Wilkins Coffee) by Henson characters through the 1960s.

Being puppets, they have been able to get away with a greater level of slapstick violence than might be acceptable with human actors. A good example is one of the early coffee ads. A Muppet is poised behind a cannon seen in profile. Another Muppet is in front of the barrel end of the cannon. The first Muppet says, "How do you feel about Wilkins Coffee?" The second Muppet responds gruffly, "Never heard of it!" The first Muppet fires the cannon and blows the second Muppet away... then turns the cannon directly toward the viewer, and ends the ad with, "Now, how do you feel about Wilkins Coffee?"
Here are several videos containing the classic ads:

Mr. TI just got back from a very long walk with Zach and I am feeling lazy. All I want to do is sit back, relax and enjoy some Lazy Weekend Links.

Do you miss Kajagoogoo, R.E.O. Speedwagon, Styx, Boy George, Tiffany, and all those other 80's bands we'd rather just forget?  You can view hundreds of 80's videos here.

I thought "The Lord of the Rings" was well done as a movie, but as a musical?  I think I'll skip that show.  [Link]

Check out this very cool movie of a TV filter Aram Bartholl created:

TV pixel filterTV-Filter allows to downsample an ongoing tv-show to 6 by 8 pixels in realtime. A translucent projection folie is mounted on a 5 cm deep cardboard grid. The color and intensity of each pixel is determined by the correspondend part of the tv screen on the backside. The different color information of each tv line get mixed to an average color value on each 4 by 4 cm pixel. In this way it is thinkable to reduce every high definition screen to a pleasant information density.
Have a good weekend!
